A regular skin check could save your life. When is the last time you’ve had one?

If you’ve had skin cancer before, you should typically have a full-body skin exam every 3-6 months.

Your follow-up schedule depends on:
- The type of skin cancer you had (melanoma vs. non-melanoma like basal or squamous cell carcinoma).
- Whether you have a history of multiple skin cancers.
- Your skin type and sun exposure history.
- Whether you have a family history of melanoma.
- If you are immunosuppressed (e.g., organ transplant recipient).

Between visits, you should perform monthly self-skin exams and look for any new or changing moles, lesions that don’t heal, or spots that itch.
